Remembering Fusilier Lee Rigby on Remembrance Day

Reflecting on our metropolitan borough, this Remembrance Sunday, we want to take a moment to remember a true hero from our borough - British Army soldier Lee Rigby. As Remembrance Sunday approaches, it's important to honor and pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Lee Rigby, a member of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, tragically lost his life in a brutal attack in Woolwich in 2013. He was just 25 years old. Despite the heartbreak and loss, his memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the minds of the entire nation.

Here in Rochdale, we have our own ways of honouring Lee Rigby's memory. The Rochdale Valiant, a local media outlet, dedicated to supporting public security knowledge, pays tribute to Lee Rigby on this day of remembrance. We want to ensure that his legacy is never forgotten.

As we communicate on Remembrance Sunday to honour all those who have served and continue to serve our country, let's take a moment to reflect on the life of Lee Rigby. His courage, dedication, and selflessness serve as an inspiration to us all.

So, as you wear your poppy and attend local remembrance events, remember Lee Rigby and the sacrifice he made for our freedom. Let's come together as a community to show our gratitude and respect for all those who have served and continue to serve in the British Armed Forces.

Lest we forget.
