Jordan Eves: From Green Politics to a New Political Horizon
🏙️
My appearance as a candidate at the polling station in 2023 marked a significant enhancement in both scope and capacity compared to my efforts the previous year in 2022. In 2023, I approached my candidacy with a renewed sense of purpose and a broader vision, having learned valuable lessons from my experiences in the previous election cycle.
Hello, I'm Jordan Eves, and as the primary writer and editor for The Rochdale Valiant, I’ve had the privilege of engaging with community-centric green politics and beyond. This post aims to share my personal journey through various political landscapes, reflect on my evolving beliefs, and address some misconceptions about my political affiliations.

Embarking on Green Politics
My venture into green politics began with an invitation from a member of The Green Party of England and Wales in 2021. With a deep-seated interest in ecology and sustainable living, I eagerly attended my first meeting on December 6th that same year. This introduction set the stage for my role as a local candidate for the Balderstone and Kirkholt area in 2022 and 2023.
In 2022, while I had laid a solid foundation, my campaign was limited in its reach and resources. I focused primarily on grassroots engagement, but I lacked the strategic planning and community outreach that could have amplified my message.
However, by 2023, I had taken the time to analyse the shortcomings of my prior campaign. I invested in extensive training and development along with colleagues, which allowed me to better understand the political landscape and the needs of the community. This preparation enabled me to expand my platform and articulate my vision more clearly, addressing a wider range of issues that resonated with voters.
In summary, my appearance as a candidate in 2023 was not just a step forward; it was a transformative experience that showcased my growth and my commitment to serving the community with greater effectiveness and inclusivity than I had achieved in the previous year.
Community Engagement and Leadership
During my candidacy, I focused on advocating for policies that prioritised environmental sustainability and community welfare. Engaging with residents, I learned firsthand the importance of local issues such as renewable energy initiatives and urban green spaces, and these issues were a significant interest on national and global levels, as I spent time over many previous years, maintaining ecological knowledge on a scientific and economical basis. My leadership roles allowed me to push for projects that aligned with these values, contributing to a community-focused political agenda.

Navigating Political Shifts
Political landscapes are ever-changing, and so are personal beliefs. Over time, I found myself at a crossroads with the party’s direction, particularly concerning its stance on republicanism and international issues. Recently, there were suspected rumours suggesting my ongoing association with The Green Party, coupled with scheduled claims of opposing Israel and supporting the Free Palestine movement, or having a viewpoint that aligns with such notions. These claims are unfounded and misrepresent my current stance.

Embracing New Political Perspectives
In 2024, my political perspective shifted significantly. Initially channeling a centre-left bias since leaving The Green Party of England and Wales, I have recently gravitated towards a centre-right approach, reflecting a restored preference for pragmatic, conservative values. This transition has been informed by a desire for balanced governance that prioritises fiscal responsibility and individual liberties.
Looking Ahead
As I look to the future, my aim is to continue advocating for policies that resonate with my renewed values while fostering community discussions that emphasise constructive change. This journey underscores the fluid nature of political identity and the importance of aligning with one's convictions.
🌄
My political journey has been one of introspection and adaptation. From the foundational days with The Green Party to my current political stance, I’ve learned the profound impact of ideological shifts and the necessity of clear communication. As I move forward, I remain committed to engaging in dialogues that promote understanding and progress, always with an eye on serving my community authentically and transparently.
