Kirkholt Police Act on Drug and Underage Vaping Concerns

Kirkholt, Rochdale – Local police have recently taken action under the Misuse of Drugs Act and regulations surrounding underage vaping, underscoring their commitment to tackling drug-related issues and safeguarding young people in the community.

During a recent operation, officers in Kirkholt apprehended a 15-year-old male, near to The Strand community hub, who was found to be in possession of six snap bags of cannabis. Given the quantity of the substance, police suspect the youth may have been involved in drug dealing. The incident has been addressed under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act, and further investigation may follow.

At the same location, police encountered a 13-year-old youth in possession of two vapes. In an effort to prevent underage vaping, which poses significant health risks, officers confiscated the vapes and disposed of them. This action reflects local concerns about the accessibility of vaping products to minors and the enforcement of regulations designed to protect vulnerable youth.

These incidents highlight the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing both drug-related crime and the rising prevalence of underage vaping. While possession of cannabis can have significant legal consequences, the possession of vapes by a minor raises public health concerns as they can be a gateway to more harmful habits.

The local police are urging parents and guardians to have open conversations with their children about the dangers of drugs and vaping. They are working in partnership with local schools and community groups to educate young people on the risks involved in substance abuse. They also encourage members of the public to report any suspicions regarding drug dealing or sales of vapes to youths.

This recent activity underscores the ongoing efforts of Kirkholt police to combat drug-related activity and protect young people from harm. The community is encouraged to continue to work collaboratively with police to ensure a safe and healthy environment for all.
