Pennines and Castleton & Kirkholt Neighbourhood Policing Teams Tackle Speeding Concerns

In a proactive response to community concerns regarding speeding, police officers from the Pennines neighbourhood policing team and the Castleton & Kirkholt neighbourhood policing team have recently conducted a focused vehicle speed operation across key roads in the Littleborough, Smallbridge, and Belfield areas. This initiative comes after a series of reports from residents who raised alarm about the dangers posed by excessive speed in their neighbourhoods.

Over the last few days, officers from the neighbourhood teams identified specific locations that had become hotspots for speeding violations and set about implementing strategic checks. Armed with speed guns and positioned at various vehicle checkpoints, the officers aimed to monitor traffic patterns and deter reckless driving behaviours that could endanger the safety of residents.

The operation was not solely focused on monitoring speed; it also involved comprehensive checks on drivers to ensure compliance with road safety regulations. Officers conducted checks on insurance validity and driver licenses, ensuring that all motorists were adhering to legal requirements while on the road.

The initiative proved effective, resulting in multiple interventions on the targeted roads. In total, six speeding tickets were issued, marking a significant enforcement action against those who disregard speed limits designed to protect community members. In addition to the speeding tickets, officers also conducted two stop searches, further emphasising their commitment to maintaining law and order in the area.

Local residents have expressed appreciation for the swift response by law enforcement, acknowledging that the presence of police officers and the implementation of speed checks will likely foster a greater sense of safety within the community. The operation not only highlights the ongoing efforts of the police to tackle speeding but also reinforces the importance of community engagement in driving police initiatives.

As this operation has been undertaken, the Pennines and Castleton & Kirkholt neighbourhood policing teams remain dedicated to their mission of ensuring safer streets for all residents. Through ongoing community collaboration and visible enforcement efforts, they aim to promote responsible driving while addressing the concerns raised by the community. Future operations are likely to be planned based on the success of this initiative, ensuring that the voices of residents continue to guide policing efforts in fostering safer neighbourhoods.
