Kirkholt and Castleton Police Team Up with DVLA to Crack Down on Untaxed Vehicles

Castleton, February 24, 2025 – In a decisive move to enhance road safety, neighbourhood policing teams from Kirkholt and Castleton collaborated with the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) on Monday morning to tackle the issue of untaxed vehicles in the Castleton area.

In a matter of just a few hours, the joint operation successfully seized 11 vehicles, marking a significant enforcement effort aimed at ensuring compliance with road regulations. This proactive initiative is part of a broader commitment to maintain safety on local roads and uphold legal standards for all vehicles and drivers.

The operation underscores the importance of vehicle taxation as a means of contributing to road safety and ensuring that drivers are accountable. Untaxed vehicles not only pose a risk to public safety but also undermine the integrity of the local transportation system. The swift action taken by the Kirkholt and Castleton police serves as a reminder that authorities are vigilant in their efforts to keep the community safe and ensure that all vehicles on the road meet legal requirements.

Local residents have expressed their support for the operation, highlighting the importance of having properly licensed vehicles in the area. “It’s great to see our local police taking action against untaxed vehicles. It helps keep our roads safer and holds everyone to the same standards,” said Jordan Eves, former Green Party candidate for Balderstone & Kirkholt, who advocates for fair MOT and equal licencing standards.

The Kirkholt and Castleton neighbourhood policing teams, along with the DVLA, are committed to ongoing efforts to monitor and enforce vehicle taxation laws. Their collaboration not only contributes to improved safety on the roads but also fosters a sense of community responsibility among drivers.

As the operation concludes, authorities are urging vehicle owners to ensure their vehicles are properly taxed and compliant with legal requirements to avoid penalties and contribute to a safer driving environment for all.

Well done to the Kirkholt and Castleton police for their diligent efforts in making the roads safer and more compliant!
