Kirkholt Drug Suspect Eludes Police in Chase, Passenger Assists Investigation
Kirkholt, Rochdale - A police pursuit unfolded in Kirkholt on Friday night after a suspected drug dealer attempted to evade officers, ultimately abandoning his vehicle and fleeing on foot. The incident is linked to a previous drug bust in the area earlier in February, involving the very same vehicle.
According to police reports, officers on patrol spotted the suspicious vehicle on Friday, February 28th, and signaled for it to stop. This vehicle was already known to authorities following an incident earlier in the month where Kirkholt police disrupted a suspected drug deal on Hilltop Drive. That prior incident resulted in the arrest of a male for possession of Class A substances.
However, on Friday night, the driver of the vehicle chose to ignore the police request and instead accelerated away, initiating a pursuit through the streets of Kirkholt. Police engaged in a chase to apprehend the suspect, but the driver ultimately managed to escape after abandoning the vehicle.
While the driver successfully evaded immediate capture, the passenger in the vehicle was less fortunate. Police apprehended the passenger at the scene. In a surprising turn of events, the passenger is reported to have cooperated with officers, providing the driver's name.
