Man Hospitalised After Suspected Drug Overdose in Middleton
Middleton, Greater Manchester - Emergency services were called to Rochdale Road in Middleton on Wednesday after a man suffered a suspected drug overdose, leading to a cardiac arrest.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) cordoned off a section of Rochdale Road between the junctions of King Street and Cheapside on Wednesday, March 5th, following the incident. The cordon remained in place throughout Thursday as officers conducted initial investigations.
GMP confirmed that the man was taken to hospital for treatment after experiencing the medical episode on Rochdale Road. Authorities believe the cardiac arrest was triggered by a suspected drug overdose.
"The man remained in hospital for treatment [on Friday]," GMP stated.
The police cordon was finally lifted late on Thursday night. Remnants of the yellow police tape were visible on Friday morning, as observed by a Manchester Evening News photographer, near a wheelie bin on Rochdale Road.
GMP are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. No further details are available at this time.
